16-MINUTE PACE STANDARD
The Miami Marathon & Half Marathon welcomes athletes of all speeds and fitness levels, but must abide by city regulations in regard to road closures. With these road closure regulations, we must have roads cleared within a 6-hour time frame. Therefore, we require participants to maintain a 16-minute mile pace in order to abide by city regulations. This pace goes into effect as soon as the last participant crosses the start line.
For any participant that can’t maintain the 16-minute pace, they will be guided onto the sidewalks and will be allowed access to the finish line until 12:30 p.m. We hope you will be able to train your participants to a 16-minute pace, but for those who just can’t do it have this option. Please make sure all your participants are fully aware of the pace and the rules.
