An almost all-flat course that shares approximately 12.9 miles of the half marathon route featuring cityscapes, ocean views, the MacArthur Causeway Bridge and entertainment throughout.
About the Course
Miami and the Miami Beach area are at seal with no noticeable elevation changes. However, listed below are multiple bridges featured along the course.
• A quarter mile into the race there is the largest bridge of the course, the MacArthur Causeway (9 meters above sea level) — connecting to Watson Island
• At the 2.5-mile mark there is a second, less gradual incline that connects to the island of Miami Beach
• From mile 8 to 11, participants return to mainland Miami by crossing the Venetian Causeway that features a small incline on the last portion of the causeway
601 Biscayne Blvd.
The 26.2-mile course starts by heading north in front of the American Airlines Arena and finishes in the same general area.
Runners have been pre-assigned a Start Line corral which is indicated on each participant’s bib number. Corrals will be labeled by large signs. Participants will match the letter of their bib to the letter of their corral. Varying time gaps will be used between each corral, closely resembling a wave start format.
Located three blocks south of the Start Line, right past the Bayside Marketplace. The clear bag provided at packet pick-up must be used. See the gear check section below for more information.
Participants will be able to use Start Line walkways to access their corral until 15 minutes before their estimated start time.
A medical unit will be located at the start line for your safety. Please look for medical personnel in green T-shirts if you need assistance. Water/Gatorade stations will be located on both sides of the start line area.
Port-o-lets and facilities will be located towards the front and back of the Start line and inside the American Airlines Arena (no bags permitted). Two ADA restrooms will be located at 8th St. and Biscayne Boulevard.
301 Biscayne Blvd.
Participants will finish heading north adjacent to Bayfront Park — four blocks south of the start (Biscayne & E. Flagler Street).
Assistance to the Finish
Transport back to the finish line will be provided for runners unable to complete the race. A runner follow-up bus/van will be available throughout the course at the back of the pack. The finish line is on Biscayne Boulevard (between SE 1st St. and Flagler St.) and will remain open until 2:00 pm.
Family Reunion Area
After finishing, reunite with friends and family under the signpost with the first letter in of last name. If a participant is taking longer than expected, please visit the Information Booth at the post-race area (located in the center walkway of Bayfront Park, adjacent to the finish shoot) where we will have athlete look-up set up. Course and medical personnel will track runners and record data to ensure updates for families on participant’s condition and/or whereabouts.
Port-o-lets will be offered in designated areas within the park. ADA restrooms will be located at the Finish Line at the entrance to Bayfront Park (Flagler & Biscayne Blvd).
All medical personnel will be wearing green T-shirts for easy recognition and will be on hand before, during and after the race handling everything from blisters, bandages, cramps, compresses and any other bumps along the way.
The main medical station will be located at the FINISH Line in front of Bayfront Park with Baptist Medical Plazas available at the Start and Finish lines, as well as numerous aid stations throughout the course. Please note, all participants must provide medical and emergency contact information on the back of their bib.

Bayfront Park ADA Accommodations
In accordance with the American with Disabilities Act of 1990, persons needing special accommodations to participate in this event may contact the Life Time Miami Marathon & Half Marathon via email at FLevents@LT.LIFE no later than three (3) business days prior to the event.
In order to comply with event permits as per municipal requirements, the roads will gradually reopen to vehicular traffic. We require that participants be properly prepared and trained to complete the full marathon (26.2 miles/42 KM) within 7 hours (16 minutes per mile pace or 10 minutes per KM) after the last wave/corral begins.
Marathon participants must reach the 12.8-mile mark within 3.5 hours in order to be allowed to continue, at which point participants will be encouraged to finish the half marathon.
*NEW in 2020* Marathon cutoff policy summary:
• 3.5 hours for checkpoint
• 7 hours (16 minutes per mile or 10 minutes per KM) for the course and finish line.
There is no separate course cut off from the finish line cutoff. Once the back of the pack vehicle has caught up to a participant, their race is completed.
Transport to the Finish Line, located will be provided for participants unable to complete the race. A runner follow-up vehicle will be available throughout the course at the back of the pack, and will pick up any participants who are behind the pace of the bus.
Please note that after the 7-hour pace, participant support (e.g. aid and water stations, volunteers, course marshals, clocks, medical assistance, cross street protection, etc.) will not be available, and participants will be required to adhere to local pedestrian rules (move to curbsides, break down lanes, sidewalks, etc.). Medals and official finish times will be given to all finishers who complete the race within 7 hours.
*The cutoff times are based on chip time, not gun time, in consideration of the additional time it takes the start corrals to clear.
**These cutoff times are also based on industry benchmarks; a majority of the races throughout the U.S. implement similar policies.
